Hi all im looking to change my n/s front outer c.v joint but im in 2minds weather to buy used d/shaft & fit or get new cv joint but never fitted outer cv so was wondering how do you change them & whats the more cost effective way of doing it,as ive seen some new outer cv joints & they were only 18pounds i thought they were going to be alot more than that,so if someone could point me in the wright direction i would appreciate it.cheers Ian

i wouldn't bother putting on 2nd hand cv joints when they're so cheap new, and do both fronts at the same time. as long as they're not seized to the hubs which one of mine was (had to get another hub) then its not too bad a job to do yourself, i did mine with a friend. think i paid £40 for both mine i found they ranged from around £15-£30 each when i did mine.

I bought a pair of drive shafts for my WRX as I was told they were knackered (whether they were or not I don't know) anyway I bought a pair of drive shafts from someone on here and within a week both cv gaitors had gone I got the garage to replace them with new ones at a total cost of £60 supplied and fitted. I would replace the gaitors instead of the drive shafts as you never know how long the others will last
