Default 400bhp cost?

What parts and cost would be needed to get a standard 05 sti up to 400bhp?

Thanks

Sports cat. Larger turbo. Remap. Possibly injectors. Could be anywhere up to a couple of grand. Depends if you buy new or second hand.

I'd also uprate the air intake too and you'll definitely need to uprate the fuel pump. Stock injectors should be capable of 400bhp but you'll be maxing them out.

There is another way, but it involves fitting a VTA dump valve and a fake roof vent.

To cover all bases turbo, injectors, fuel pump, decat and a remap. I would say in the region of 2k ish if buying new but quite a bit to be saved if you buy used though

Do you want 400bhp? Or a reliable 400bhp? That's the difference between how much it costs! My classic is 450bhp, it has a 2.5 fully forged block, 321t turbo, rcm headers, flowed injectors, Fmic, full exhaust, syvecs ecu, the list goes on. It costs thousands to get 400bhp+ but holy **** it's fast!! But more importantly its solid.

Cheap is not a word to be used when upgrades to power are involved!

Its a bit of a difference between a classic and an 05 sti though.

I agree. A lot of people will push to get the power and not think long term. If you're going to be running the car a couple of times a month or so then there's probably less to worry about but if you're planning on putting a mileage on your car it could end up a disaster.

You should really think about forged bearings and pistons if you're going to be pushing the engine from 265bhp to 400-odd. Especially on an engine that's going to be the best part of eight years old.

At the end of the day if it goes kerboom the bill looks like a telephone number.

With power should also come stopping ability, it might be a good idea to think about six pots on the front before upping the power.

Why the air intake? The standard box will take 400bhp easily with a good filter.

It will be used as a daily runner, I don't drive like a nutter more like miss daisy half the time. Just have the odd blast with the ladsoc from time to time.

This will be my 3rd scoob and probably will buy one thats already done as I spent $$$$$ on the other 2 I had so don't really want to go down that route again
But I have got my eye on a standard sti and this is the reason for me asking. Although not spent as much as Banny.

The one I bought already had a decat and induction kit on it when I bought it. I took it straight to Andy f and got it mapped. Its running 355 / 350 and its great for everyday use and feels plenty quick enough without spending silly amounts.

You coming to the next meet?

If so I'll see you there but it might be worth having a chat to Brian (CAMS of Darwen) as he knows his onions and is very reasonably priced.

Yeh will be at the next meet and I know Brian, spoke to him at the last month's meet. Will see you there and have a chat. I'll be the one in the BMW that I'm trying to sell.
