Default Should have more BHP?

I can't figure this out so hopefully someone else can.

The car in question is a 2005 WRX. A few years ago it had a decat and remap and was dynod at 280bhp (print out of it). August 2012 it was dynod again at 287bhp with the print out. In September 2012 the last owner had a VF34 turbo fitted, sti 550 injectors and updated remap, alomg with new plugs and oil (receipt from Scoobyworld), scoobyworld reckon it should produce 320-330bhp.

Also at some point in its life its had a large sti top mount intercooler and cold feed induction kit.

Last month it had new oil, filter, cambelt kit, waterpump and a pink box excedy stage 1 clutch. Just took it to Austec Racing and it produced only 291bhp.

So all that work with the turbo, injectors etc only gave 4bhp ?

Therse so many variables. Cant really compare differernt rr's.

Was it run in the same gear?
Temp differences?
Maybe it was left idleing or the fan wasnt up to the job so heatsoak was an issue

Well to be honest I found them very unhelpful and there was very little communication. Wont go there again.

They did say that they sometimes put a sensor in the engine or something that tricks the car into thinking its outside temperatures rather than in that rolling road room, they said they didnt bother with our cars.

Ill have a look at what gears the others were done in but mines a 5 speed and was done today in 4th.

There's no mention of fuel pump or air filter , I know you said it's running a cold air feed but standard OEM filter and fuel pump ? Air/fuel ratio plays a big part in mapping as already said no 2 rolling roads are the same

There is no set rule - each car is different each roller is different

Just checked the scoobyworld receipt and it also had a K&N Apollo Cold air intake and an upgraded fuel pump newage ITP154.

Also the 287bhp print out before the work was done was in minicraft... ill go there soon and do a rr again.

Literally just under 1.5bar.

Quick update, I just rang minicraft and they said when they did the rolling road last year they took to Austec. He said it may not be mapped properly but on the Scoobyworld receipt be also spent £450 on an ecutek remap labour..

So according to the same rolling road my car has gained 4bhp out of about 4000-4500 pounds of upgrades lol.

Did scooby clinic do the work ? If so I can't see them sending a car out without the correct map !

See it's all about using someone that knows what they are doing - wrong gear is a schoolboy error

Austec Racing is a 5 minute drive from me. If you google them you'll find their GM's resignation on pistonheads from a few years back.

Happy to give it a once over and check up at surrey rr (not that far from you) for the price of a dyno run, I am there most Wednesdays.

It could be something as simple as a part fitted since the remap or a split or loose hose.

I thought it should be 3rd gear but also though Austec should know what they were doing.

Okay thanks Simon, I may try to pop up this week or next, will let you know. So you do a map check for the price of a dyno? How much will that be?

Scooby Clinic did a remap in 2007ish then ScoobyWorld did something to it after the work was done in 2012.

No it was ScoobyWorld that did it.
typically this coming week I am mapping in Ireland..

2nd oct is next one.

I will fit detcans and check pipes in engine bay are correct, plug laptop in and check ecu is happy, listen to the engine on detcans throughout the runs, talk you threw results/findings and advise for a drink/£20.. charlie whose dyno it is will charge your £50 for the dyno power run..

Obviously I am happy to do it because should it need mapping I would hope that you would have been impressed enough by meeting us and seeing what we do to come back in future.
I will as always give an honest opinion on the current running on the car.

Simon

Excellent sounds good. 2nd of Oct it is if thats okay.

Just out of interest, roughly what would you charge if it needs an update or a new map etc? or is it impossible to tell at the moment?

new map would be £360 and RR is then £75.. there would then be no powerrun or check charge up.

No way of knowing.. previous owner only has to have changed the vac hoses and not put the restrictor pill in the new pipe for example.. mind you - you said it boosts to 1.4bar so wont be that but could be something simple or someones swapped the turbo back..

That was my other thought about the turbo, I thought though if it had the standard turbo in it again it shouldnt boost as much bar as it does?

Where abouts on the turbo would it say what it is? Ill try to have a look tomorrow.

no shouldnt boost as much but often boost gauges overread..

vf34 should have IHI on the left off the housing in 10mm high writing roughly and a raised area on middle top front with VF34 stamped on it
