Default The hunt for the blobeye continues...

Hi all,

I've been a member on this site for a while now, i dont post alot as ive not yet found my scooby of choice, however have picked up loads of great info thanks to you guys

Still on the hunt for a blobeye (03-05 plate) with a budget of 5k and I'm now wanting to pick one up within the next month as my car is getting sold.

I've been checking autotrader and pistonheads weekly and the few I have liked upon enquiring I haven't been convinced so not followed up on them.

Any other places or general tips when making enquiries would be great, im obviously not going to rush into anything but ideally the coming weeks will throw me a nice example for my budget.

Cheers!

I liked this one on autotrader however upon enquiring it has a dent on one of the doors which was not as advertised so decided to avoid :-

Could be looking at selling mine soon if your interested a 2005 05 blobeye 40K on the clock from new full dealer/specialist history taxed and mot until next year just recently serviced wr blue and modded running a VF35 , sti pinks , sti top mount , hks, full decat stainless milltek exhaust , mapped by bob rawle at 320/320 usual stone chips to bonnet and front bumper and 2 very small dents on rear pillar where the last owner lent on it to wash the roof but nothing major . Very clean for its age pics can be sent if your serious
6K is my asking price

It had quite a serious dent to one of the doors and for me the seller should be declaring this in the sale ad, plus when asked about service history the reply I got was 'I am a racing engineer and this was done in line with mot'. I'm not saying the guy is lying but for me parting the cash I dont want that percentage of doubt when buying.

Mozzer that sounds the business but unfortunately out of my price range, I'm looking at 5k ono top end and hopefully get a good deal, thanks anyway m8

Lots of cars out there, some knackered, some good, some well priced and some not. The more you have to spend the more opportunity you'll have to find a good one, and to be honest that's also likely to come from spending time searching them out - pistonheads/ebay/autotrader etc. They're out there so don't be disheartened. I picked mine up with 2 owners, just over 50k, FSH and all for less than 4k. I spent a bit putting a new cambelt kit, pulleys and Godspeed brakes on it but to be honest it wasn't immediately necessary, just something I wanted to do. £5k will get you a genuinely good late model WRX, and should definitely put you in standard 2.5 territory if you want to go down that route. Some will be chancing their arm with older cars and max prices but many are pretty reasonable. Some facelifted blob STI's for £5k now too, they've plummeted in value which is a very good reason for so many being broken at the moment (a criminal shame).
