Car locked away for the winter
Does anyone else put there scoob away for the winter? I mean, I don't totally take it off the road, I will use it if it is fine and dry. But I certainly don't use it in bad weather. Never have done. Am I alone ? I just havnt got it in me to get the car covered in salt and filthy road grime .

When i first had mine over ten years ago i was tempted to lock it away. With everything i had read about how good they were in snow etc. I just had to try it. I understand why your locking it away, but a scoob is a winter car. Its where they perform at there best. Imo ofcourse

Mine has never been out in a UK winter, as I've had it since it was imported 10 years ago. Battery disconnected, started and warmed up every 6 weeks and its been fine.
It's still needed slight attention to the drivers side arch, but the passenger side and the sills are some of the best you'll find on a 20 year old classic.
It's only really worth it if you plan on keeping it long term though.

I can see why people do garage their cars, to some its their pride and joy.
To me it's a car that is there to be driven.

but if the car has already seen several winters and its a run of the mill model it pretty pointless.

No way I brought an Impreza to drive whatever the conditions, I've had cars that I've locked away over winter, but it gets boring as our winter is to long.
And to be honest we are in the UK our spring/summer is just as wet as our winter!
If I lived in Spain I may put my car away for the cold 2-3 months

I know what you mean. But I suppose we are all differant in how and what we want. As it happens, my car is immaculate with uber low mileage. Since new it hasn't seen a winter .

Ive just bought a celica gt4 st205 off ebay for £1300 for ragging it over the winter, Great car for the money. No doubt il take the type r out if we get a good pile of snow and the gritters cant get out. I just dont want to drive it in the rain and when theres salt on the road as its mint underneath and i just wana keep it that way.

These threads always end up the same way.

Ideally its good to have your pride and joy mint example of whatever to use in the summer and something enjoyable and 4wd that you can throw the kitchen sink at anytime of the year in any conditions

I had my Classic for 6 years, and have had my Newage for 3 years.... both used every day, and I think they look(ed) ok still
You might need a 3rd type of person..... one who uses the car everyday in all weather, but gets weird looks off the neighbours as they out in all weather conditions keeping the car looking clean/good

Mine is always available over the winter as it is better in the snow than my Scenic. Hope the neighbours are understanding if I change jobs as I will be going out at 6:30 in the morning. 2 years ago I took it off the road over winter as I was not working so did some work on the old girl. If this winter is mild may do the same and get her back upto scratch.
