yes, because your exhaust gases will be flowing alot more freely and can cause boost spike, due to your turbo being able to spool up faster

What he said.
As I understand, the only part of the exhaust you can safely change without requiring a remap is the backbox / silencer.
Once you start changing air flow by removing decats, etc, the ECU needs to know about it.
