Default Ashby Folville RIP

Bugger it, that's a disaster. I wonder who the miscreants were?

However, I gather there is another fairly local one at Cold Overton. A few (out of date) details here:

Er, if you lived anywhere nearby, you wouldn't have had to ask the question.

It was the biggest informal gathering of cars, bikes and everything petrolhead related in Britain, every month from April to September. There were always a fair amount of interesting Subarus there and its demise is a real pity.

Last time I posted something in the 'Events' section, I was told it was better to put it in here. So this time I did. Seems I can't win.

Fair enough.

In all fairness you aren't but if you had taken the trouble to google it before responding you would have seen what it was and how much it will be missed by many around here and the larger midlands area. It wasn't a dig mate were just a bit miffed we've lost it

Not half as miffed as the Carrington Arms and the ice cream van man will be I suspect Andy. It wouldn't surprise me if this finishes the pub off.

I just clicked the OP's link, before I replied.

I know it wasn't a dig, Andy. A quick look over of the link I thought the Other Marques may have been a more appropriate place for it. Although, I should have worded my response better.

Does the pub serve food? Nothing to stop people turning up for an evening meal.

To be honest, I'm not sure. All I've ever had from there was a filled roll years back as more recently there were several hog roast stalls spread around the site and the pub was always totally rammed.

But if you've become used to 2 - 3000 (not a typo) potential customers visiting your village on one day every month, the loss of income will inevitably be felt. It's also a bit out in the sticks for passing trade.

Ashby Folville's only other claims to fame are as the home of a band of medieval outlaws and in having Rosemary Conley (the diet and fitness guru) as Lady of the Manor, so it's not somewhere many folks will visit.

Now there ya go, Rosemary Conley was my reason for losing a stone and a half . Micky if they provide food you would me more than welcome if passing and Osimabu as mentioned on the midlands section lets try and get something else together.

Clearly something that will be missed, socially and economically.

However, there's an important issue here.

I thought it was the Police's duty/responsibility/remit to uphold the Law, part of which involves detecting crime and part of which is preventing it.

Preventing it by deterrence that is, not by simply removing the catalyst.

Imagine all football matches being cancelled 'on the advice of the Police' ???????

There's too much of this going on.

The anti-frackers got away with it - Police can't be ar$ed to do their job (boys and girls on the beat, not too much issue with them, but Plodfathers and mothers are abrogating their responsibilities).

Now some prats have been allowed to get away with it.

Ashley Colville council - be you Parish or whatever - get off your backsides and start lobbying, including your local town, county and/or borough councillors, even MP.

Alternatively don't pay the Police part of your Council Tax Bill.
