I posted the link in a thread a few weeks ago.

I think it was one about 'when is a car not standard anymore?'.

How on Earth can anyone take a limited edition and turn it into something totally different to the original?

'Mad' doesn't even start to describe their mentality.

As the owner of a modified limited edition I totally agree with the Cambrian Fortuitous Fellow

I have to say that I really don't like what has been done to that WR1...

You can take a car further in the direction of what the creators of the limited edition car originally intended but I am afraid to say that car is nothing in any way shape or form a WR1 anymore.

I would take a step further back on that stance if he had all the original bits in a box in the garage but I doubt it could be easily taken back to standard.

I had my chargespeed kit on long before that

The first car in the UK to have Porsche Slate Grey Metallic OEM paint and a chargespeed body kit. Featured in Max Power magazine in July 2007.

He might just as well have advertised it as 'the first (or only?) WR1 in the world to have a complete makeover'.

I have to say that this just staggers me.

You buy a limited edition because it's a limited edition, because you like it, because you see it as an investment or for whatever reason, but surely you buy it for what it is, not for what you want to make it look like, something completely different from its erm... relatively unique shape and form?

Perhaps he thinks making it totally unique would increase its value??

(And if the seller didn't do it, what on Earth was he doing buying such a car?)

And there was me thinking about turning my car into the first WR1-coloured non-WR1 in the UK.

Perhaps not.

Looks like one of the late spec MG ZR's with those wheels and louvers. While the MG actually looked pretty cool, this...

Looks horrid, I'm in agreement as well, it's not a WR1 anymore and what a waste of a WR1 it is. I'll be surprised if it sells, especially for that price!

You may also be shocked to hear that loads of Euro-Spec cars came to the UK in that colour.

Judging aside.. What is quite interesting is the numbers of WR1's remaining. If what he's written is true, almost half the WR1 population no longer exists. That's a big percentage of a ltd edition which you'd expect to be cared for.
