API 2.1 Forged engines
Looking at getting a forged 2.1 Stroker built for my WRX and seen a few companies API, Engine tuner and so on..
Now I really need to do my homework on this before I hand over my hard earned!!!
Looking to get a figure of around 450-500..TBh 450bhp would be loads for a couple of track days and a road car with supporting mods.
Who's had 2.1's built by them and what is the service like and build, problems, what kind of setup are you running CDB? Semi? What is the best to use? what Pistons,Rods,Bearings etc are you using?
Obviously I will be contacting them to get a proper quote as every ones needs are different but would be good to have a bit more knowledge on it.
Thanks guys!

All of the names you have mentioned will do a good job by all accounts. I can only vouch for ET. Had my stroker done just over a year ago and have been extremely satisfied with the build, the end results and the aftercare service. The final spec will be personal choice. I personally went for an over engineered cdb, with a final output in the 425 region, with focus on driveability and future proofing. I would shortlist and then visit and see what works for you.

A 2.1 - like any other engine - isn't anything without the technology to support it.
You mention 450+ - you need a turbo that can enable that.
Obviously forged internals.
And no doubt once you've started you'll want to progress.
So future-proofing is a good idea, such as SCDB.
Are you prepared to travel if needs be?
(Some of the names that will come up are a long way away from your location).
To give an idea of what people will (rightly) suggest:
* Enginetuner (Plymouth);
* API (Harbury);
* Advanced Automotive (Bristol)
* Richard Henry Motorsport
* RaceDynamix
I'm not an in-depth enthusiast, but these are ones I've picked up on from threads, and there's definitely loads more.
Tbh asking a question such as this is probably going to lead to information overload.
So, over to the floor..........................

Our previous 2.1L has been build by Neil@Slowboy racing and as our 2.35L is build by Neil@Slowboy racing
I can only vouch for Neil@ Slowboy racing work and really as I before suggest speak with Neil about the best options
For yours target I would go with yours existing block,OBD block is strong enough and will be good up to 550bhp
We run 2.1L OBDat 490bhpplus 25bhp NOS shot and Neil said,engine should be OK up to 500-550bhp,above that better headstuds will be needed at least
Pistons again this will depends on yours budget,but Mahle pistons are mostly used,if its budget then CP pistons,JE pistons etc(if you want top one,then RCM will be best bet),rods again for budget build and for 550bhp any good H beam rod should be enough(I would saty away from Eagle H beam rods),Manley rods are mostly used,but if its budget K1 rods and if you want top then Carrillo,RCM, Cosworth are probably best.
Bearings ACL racing are mostly used and they're proven on several builds
What I would suggest use Cosworth headgasket and keep away from Cometic headgaskets,plus I would suggest add 11mm ARP headstuds(if its budget then Cosworth 11mm 260k psi headstuds is great option too,RCM 12/11mm are nice too headstuds)

What's your current spec? a car with those figures could take some getting used to if you're running a fairly standard setup at the moment.
You'll also need to budget for a better gearbox and clutch aswell.

Iv had a engine tuner 2.1 CDB running 450+ for about 3-4 years now and done loads of track days and really hard driving and its still holding together fine
Advanced automotive are very good also but I havnt had one of there engines yet but they will be building my replacment when my 2.1 does give up
