When filling i would advice against using tap water as over timne this will scale everything up. I use de-ironised water. Also in the winter only half fill the bottle to allow for the water freezing.
Probably not. I have not seen any evidence of its real effectiveness. If it were proved to me that it was effective i would fit one, if i didn't already have it. But i would go the spec C route and have it automatic with big tank.
the problem with the OM sytem is the spray nozzle only puts water in a small area at the front of the intercooler around the outlet to throttlebody, so there is very little residual effect once the spraying stops.
Much better to have a system with more than one nozzle were the whole intercooler is effected and benifits from wet plates/ improved heat exchange even when the spraying stops.

I retro fitted a Spec C tank and all the gubbins into my Classic.
I have an intake temp gauge and if I use the spray it cools the intercooler down much faster than it does with no spray.
I would imagine he has a sensor near the throttle body, the effect of the spray would be greatest early run when the car had been stood which is what it is designed for.
Reducing temps at full chat with resulting increase in power is unlikely me thinks.

I had a boss welded to the underside of the intercooler so the sensor is in the flow of air into the throttle body.
The effect is much more noticeable as you say after it's been stood from hot. The temps come down much, much quicker even when driving slowly as you would when leaving a car park.
You still need air flowing through the intercooler to get the full effect but it was a worthwhile mod. Coupled with a larger New Age STi top mount.
