Yes the added back pressure will not be a wise move IMHO I tried this for a quieter exhaust for Bedford trackday and it felt nasty.
I can feel the difference between my H&S Scooby Sport and then swapping for the full H&S bean can, so the STi box will be even worse.

Exhausts don't have to be noisy to flow well, there's a compromise somewhere!
We've often added boxes or changed whole systems for something quieter and lost nothing.
It's a flow issue in any event, and any car below 300 bhp is ok on a sport cat and 2.5" system.

Miltek for instance, great free flowing exhaust but nice and quiet.
I ran a full 3" de-cat tornado system on my car. Fantastic system which was quiet at cruising speed but came alive on WOT.
Sell your HandS back box and get yourself another aftermarket one which is a little quieter.

I've been trying to find the answer to this question also. I fitted a Hayward and Scott back box with full decat and its too loud for me now , wakes the neighbours first thing :-/
I fitted the exhaust when I had my md321h turbo fitted and mapped. I liked my standard back box but was told it wouldn't allow me to make the most of the turbo. I need a quieter one now !!

I agree completely. Mine isn't silly loud like some you see , its only 2.5inch Decat with the standard mid silencer ...
I just don't want to fit a different back box and it cause running issues because it was mapped specifically for the current one. Its making plenty of power so losing a tiny bit doesn't concern me :-)

Hi I recently changed my blitz nur spec r to an original prodrive back box on my 05 sti and it does not run as well and more thirsty as it does need a remap as advised by scoobyclinic. This is because it was mapped when the blitz was originally put on
