parking fines
Righty!
I notice there has been a change in legislation with regard to private parking fines etc.
Are these now enforceable? Or can I still tell them to go shove it?
Unsure of what the changes exactly are and the goverment page on it won't load for me!

I got done/ or they tried to do me, by a company called Parking Eye, I paid at the machine, which was miles away from where I parked our car and had to put the reg number of the car into the machine, Because the car was new I put the reg number in slightly wrong(last letter was different to what I put in).
I put the ticket in the car window and didnt think anything of it, as I had paid at the machine and ticket was in the window. Left at the time I was given!!!
2 weeks later I get a letter through the door saying that I didnt pay and that I have to pay £60 fine. So I photocopy the ticket that I had and sent it along with a letter explaining that I had missed 1 letter off on the car reg but as you can see its the same reg(except 1 letter) on the same make/colour car, and at the same time and date at the exact location.
Got a letter back saying that there was not enough evidence and that I still need to pay the fine. So after about 10 letters from Parking Eye, and threat of court action, all of them ignored, they just stopped sending letters!!!
Worse thing the goverment can do is give these private companys control, as they will do anything to get there money regardless!!!

They're probably including that statement as a little "propaganda" to make it sounds a bit more powerful, in the hope it'll make you pay a little more readily than you otherwise might have done.
On the subject of "not enough evidence", I'd make them work for a bit - tell them a ticket on your windscreen isn't sufficient evidence to you that a parking contravention has taken place; get them to provide photos of the contravention with the correct date and time on them, then tell them you don't intend on paying it anyway.

Yeah that is what I thought. Was just checking I hadn't missed something. They won't get a penny from me.
The amount of ideiots that must pay this must still make it worth doing!
I love having the arguments with these people. Especially when all their staff seem to think you "have" to pay them lol
