The car - well concept - actually exists. It was shown at the NY motor show, ealier in the year:-

So chances are the actual MY2014 car will differ (to a lesser or greater degree) (?)

There are other threads on this, but it's still a good car to view.
I do think that Subaru's PR department are working a cunning plan.
They released the fat and ugly WRX which turned out to be a flop compared to previous models.
Then came the chocolate engine saga.
Subaru are in deep mire so they go and discontinue the line in UK, that got a lot of publicity and was a way of dumping the car.
Wait a while, bring out a stunning looking concept car and then tease the UK market with various reports of the WRX coming back to the UK.
That whets the appetite of UK buyers who will no doubt form a queue to be the first to buy.
Next bit of publicity will be an announcement of a return to the WRC.
Followed by the opening of order books for the UK WRX.
So, is Subaru's marketing dept doing a cunning plan?

I don't think Subaru ever had a plot, they just emerged at the right time and also stumbled into the rally thing, embarrassed a few expensive performance cars, but now everyone has caught up, even the hot hatches.

*** UPDATE ***
(I apologise if this has been posted elsewhere)
And here it is:-

To be fair, it's very close to that concept. 'Looks' very heavy though.
STi to debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January...............
