Default what options do I have

Ive currently got std 4 pots on, with 17" wheels, I need new pads but since im going for more power il be needing bigger brakes, I dont really want to change my wheels. The distance ive got between the wheel and caliper is about 5mm. What are my options without changing my wheels

They are inovite redlines, but the gap between the wheel and caliper is very little

Better pads, Brake fluid, braided lines and discs will solve the problem at a fraction of the cost of BREMBO's and wheels that fit over them.

If you are looking to keep your subaru four pot calipers the kit that banny has recommended should work ok,but when you are aiming for the 400 bhp+ region I would proberly be looking for a better and bigger caliper.SJ.

Well if I have to spend abit more money then I will as I wont be skimping on the most important thibgs a car needs, but I want to retain my wheels, hence why I wanted to kbow what would be my best option, I want to keep the 17s on,

5mm or 10mm Hub centric wheel spacers to make the Brembos fit if they can't fit your 17"wheels,simples.SJ.

If we are talkin the Innovite Redlines(PFF7 copy) then they 100% fit over brembos with no spacer in a 17" wheel

I had the godspeed kit fitted on my car for a couple of years. For the money, it's not a bad kit tbh - my only criticism of it would be that it ends up being quite a heavy brake set up (which probably has more to do with the std calipers than anything else).

I don't want to revive the 'looong' thread, but I'd go for discs and pads myself, unless you're going tracking. I've had the godspeed std size disc/pad combo as well, and it worked really well on the road, even when hooning about.

What have you got on now? I was thinking of sticking to my grooved and dimpled discs, but using cl rc5+ pads? And obv changing fluid and braided lines, or even change the discs to pf with cl rc5+ pads

My car is in small bits in the garage at the moment, but before I tore it down I was on 330mm ksports with bluestuff NDX pads, and I was very happy with the performance on track.
On the road, it made no discernible difference to stopping distances, although it did make a difference to the way the brakes felt.

If you've got discs that are in good nick (i.e. not scored, no huge lip etc), you could just change the pads and see how you get on. The pads will make the brakes feel "different", with more aggressive bite etc in my experience.

Btw, the braided lines and fluid will not make any difference to absolute stopping distance either, unless you drive the car so hard that you'd boil the older fluid. The braided lines are more of a feel thing again - the pedal will feel a bit more consistent.
