The advantage of fake roof vents......
... is that the latches don't disintegrate !
Got in the car this morning to take She Who is Afraid to work, did the usual pre-flight bits - start it up, open door mirrors to full expansion, reset data logger, open roof vent to allow the early morning heat to escape from the cockpit - and a piece flew off the latch, resulting in the roof flap having the ability to lie on the roof, unfettered by the latch.
(Fortunately it couldn't, the latch being firmly retained by me).
BAH !!!!!!
Basically the hole where the bottom lug is seated is no longer a hole but half a hole, so the lug would simply escape at will.
I've effected a temporary repair (bound the thing up with a shoelace, prior to locating and supergluing the escaped piece back in place).
I'm OK, just won't be opening the vent for now.
Until I find a replacement latch of course.
I'm scouring the Net for Spec C's that are regrettably being broken but if anyone comes across one or a scrappie that has one would you please drop me a PM?
Your reward won't only be in heaven.
Thanks in advance.
