I got mine from an Auto Factors from Yellow Pages - they mixed it for me and put it in an aerosol - cost about £10 IIRC

Don't know how many shades of that colour there are I got 2 pack laquer when I re-furbished my wheels and it seemed like good stuff they always make it up while you wait and it is always spot on.

Wink

the exploding halfords cans were a problem we had last year, which resulted in a big recall, now sorted. if anyone has any 300ml cans they bought last summer, take them to the manager of your local branch and they will exchange/check the date of manufacture.

the mix-while-you wait paints (they're from Holts actually) aren't made by the same people as the off-the-shelf ones... if i mixed you one i'd guarantee it matched mate.

Which moves me nicely onto the subject of primers & lacquers !!
I am spraying some fog covers & the process I am goint to employ is

1) rough them up to accept paint
2) 2-3 layers of primer (white primer for silver paint??)
3) 4-5 coats of silver
4) 4-5 coats of clear lacquer.

Reason I ask is that I did this a couple of years ago & the covers have since gone a yellow" colour tinge.....

Any help appreciated

Ro.

Talking

Ro,

The yellowing that you described will be the lacquer degrading after time.

You need to try and get a high quality two pack lacquer in a spray can (like they use in body shops).

I spoke with the chap from colour match and they can do this.

Thanks Iain.
I have bought the standard halfords lacquer so might go back & get my money back.

don't get halfords stuff! it's crap! it flakes, the paint won't stick as it don't include plasticizer or something so get it properly mixed!
