How to remedy corrosion under rear classic window?
On the classics they seem to corrode where the lower rear screen rubber meets the body. How do you sort this? Does the window need to come out?
Mine is only light but you can see where the rubber has worn through the paint but the rubber is in the way to treat it to a rub down and paint.
The new age cars don't have any rubber under the window, which would suggest it's a known problem.
Cheers,
Wayne.

If it's surface rust, one of the best way I've read (from many respected sources) is to mechanically remove the rust (sanding, sandblast, wirewheel etc). Get it back to clean metal and then prime then paint. If treated properly, it shouldn't return.
Good read here: http://www.autopia.org/forum/autopia...treatment.html

I'd use this stuff to remove the rust without risking damage to anything else (patience is required):

Then this:

And then your top colour.
I hope this is of interest.

To do a proper job you'll need to remove the screen and rubber trim. Its no big deal and hopefully if its only minor corrosion a gentle grind, rust treatment, filler, primer and paint will sort it.
Just be careful removing the plastic trim that runs along the sides of the screen and along the roof. The clips are cheap but the trim itself is expensive.
