Nuts and bolts
Over the winter, I'm considering having a good old clean up of the underside of my Blob. One of my intentions is to replace as many of the currently rusty nuts and bolts as I can with shiny (genuine Subaru) new ones which I hope to get over the coming months.
Are there any places, other than the main dealers, that people can recommend for me to buy these please?
Thanks for any help.

Machine shops would give you new bolts as long as you knew the pitch size etc they should be able to supply the same tensile strength, most bolts on the car would be easily sourced

As above.
Go onto www.yell.com, enter "bolt and nut stockist", pay them a visit with the old bolts, walk out with new stainless ones.
For bolts with captive washers, or skirts, try ebay. For those that hold the skirts on, try roofing bolts, also stainless.
I have replaced loads, including things like the screws that hold the headlight levelling motors to the headlight.
Might be an idea to stock up on a few trim clips too...again, ebay is your friend

Thanks folks.
I love the idea of it, but stainless is no good for suspension bolts etc as it's not strong enough.
I'm trying to keep the car original where possible which is why I'm after Subaru's own parts, although I have micrometers and thread gauges so I could check and look at nut and bolt suppliers if any aren't available from Subaru.
I'll certainly have a look on eBay too, but do any other firms sell new genuine Subaru parts besides the main dealers?

Thanks very much folks.
Bilt Hamber's Dynax S50 should enable me to make sure the bolts don't go rusty again too quickly, but I'll admit I'd not considered having the current ones zinc plated.
Am I right in thinking then that there aren't any places that sell new genuine Subaru parts except the main dealers?

If you buy from Subaru, you will be secure in the knowledge that a) you got them in a packet with the part number on, and b), you paid about three to five times the value.
If you buy from a bolt and nut stockist, you will be secure in the knowledge that a) you have the same spec bolt and b) you paid much less.
your choice.

Thank you. Being 'fiscally aware' (ahem...), that's the most compelling argument I've read for the nut and bolt stockists!
Are Subaru prices really that bad? I've not had the pleasure of dealing wth them for anything much so far?
