My car + 12k = P1, GOOD OR BAD, HELP?!?

Made some enquiries recently about getting a P1, and I know that opinion on their merits is greatly divided, however, I've been tentatively offered my car plus 12k for a second hand P1 with 6k on the clock.
Specs as follows
My car.
MY99UK DBM
32k miles
17" ST2's with PZero's
ITG air filter
All colour coded
6 stack CD changer
Sunroof.
(also got a full scoobysport exhaust, but that comes with me!)
From what I know the P1 is as follows (I'll check it on the Subaru site)

Panasonic head unit.
Apparently the guys at Listers haven't got a car with my spec and therefore want one, and have said (albeit subject to them seeing mine), that they should be able to get me into the P1 for mine plus 12k. As I said all over the phone so far, so me being cynical I wonder if this is the opening gambit?!
I'm in something of a quandry, so any and all help would be well received.
As an aside, looking to the future if I do get a P1, is it better to leave ths standard back box, or change to my existing scoobysport one?

What's the screen price on the P1? At a guess, it'd be around 27, so they're offering 15 for yours.
The change figure doesn't sound too bad to me, but then, what do I know?

There are P1s around, especially for dealers,
ask them if they would accept 10 on top of yours. If 12 was their price they will be able to come down a lot.
Acheaky offer is always worth a go, but always be prepared to walk away.

Seems quite reasonable.
Anyone who thinks their own car is worth something when coming to sell it need a reality check.
I've often found that extras are for your own benefit and rarely add to the value of the car.
One thing for sure, you'll really like th P1.

Not far out the screen price is £27,995.

I did mention to the dealer that when I was originally thinking about it I was thinking on the line of mine + £10k - for a new one as well - cheaky enough? I suppose your right, just try and try.
I assume that things still work the same, and if this is his first offer, might be some more miles in it?!

Sounds good.
I saw the two P1's they had up for sale on Saturday.
The Full Scoobysport exhaust may be a little too much on a P1 ( according to one chap who had such a setup it was loud
).
I've gone for the SS DP and P1 BB with an uprated dump valve.
I won't be selling it for a while.
Listers have treat me very well and I can recommend them highly.

Sounds OK to me...when all considered.
I think that Parkers Guide would put yours at circa £15k for trade...possibly a little less...however that doesn't take into account the various mods.
(It might be worth taking the mods off and selling them seperatly - on the basis that you still have the original parts).
£27k for a 2nd hand P1 is also not too bad - given the present market.
If it was me I would go for it...but I'm slightly bias having had my P1 since this time last year.

I agree entirely about the extras - hence why the scoobysport system is coming off, as are the clear indicators/side repeaters.
What are your views on the back box question? Also, how may P1's do you know that have got clear indicators - what do they do with the orange grills underneath? At the moment mine are sprayed black.

Neil - louder than on a UK car? What sort of dump valve have you got, how does it help your car?
Rum - the only mods on there that I've got the original parts for I would want to take with me - exhuast, indicators and STI pedals.

They are also sprayed black, but they wont stay that way for long.
After 3000 miles mine are more orange than black.

Not sure if you've tried but might be worth giving Park Lane a try in Alton. They have a similar P1 for sale and gave me a very good part ex deal when I bought a car from them last Oct. They are a very good bunch and know what they are doing.
Numbers dont sound bad to me though.

What have you got them sprayed with? Mine have been on for some time now, and they're still fine. I know that the P1's are closer to the ground. I use satin finish Hammerite.

The Dump valve keeps the Turbo spinning between gear changes so everything is more 'urgent'.
I got it from Listers.
The P1 with the Full SS was not my car and I never heard it so I don't know if it was louder than std UK car.

As already mentioned by a lot of people, the little orange grilles seem to have been sprayed by the YTS people at Subaru, late on a Friday afternoon
Most people pop them out and re-spray them theirselves, giving them a good few coats in the process.
With regard to the backbox, the pukka Prodrive one looks and sounds great and you've got the benefit of the dealer never being able to wriggle out of a warranty claim because you fitted an aftermarket exhaust. It seems to give the car a "prescence" on the road without being over noisy like a boy racer car.
A lot of people opt for the clear side repeaters but stick with the orange indicators. Clear indicators at about £70 are difficult to justify to me when they are tucked out the way. Use the money to get some Xenon headlamp and ultra bright side light bulbs instead.

P1 with 6k miles, I'd say don't pay more than 26k. Your car's probably "worth" 15k, but in current market conditions might be hard to shift at that price. So 12k extra is not too bad a deal - I would try to haggle it down to 11k or lower though. Alternatively, agree to pay 12k but only if they fit the brake upgrade (v useful kit IMO) for free.

It's an atmospheric one so you get the woosh on gear changes ( still audible going 4th to 5th at silly speeds )
They are running a line of performance and upgrade parts under 'Listers Motorsport' banner such as seats , carpet sets , strut braces , exhausts and other goodies.
They are sourced from various 3rd parties such as Scoobysport.
It's not the cheapest on the market but it was recomended and I am impressed.
The cost was around the £160 mark but I had it fitted at the same time as SS downpipe.
Give 'em a ring on 01905 640512 and speak to Adrian or Pete in parts and they will be able to advise you.

Strangely enough that is exactly what my brother-in-law said to me last night. The only problem is (and you can call me shallow) that they look absolutely hideous. It doesn't matter how good it is, I couldn't drive a car that looked like that.

I expect Listers paid no more than £22k for that car.
Haven't looked yours up in Glasses but can do if you like.
I'd try for some more money and the brake upgrade. They can only say no.

Wish I had waited and paid less than list but who cares, if you want a new one go for it. I'm sure you could nearly get the same deal but not necessarily from Listers.
I've heard a rumour there are still over 200 unsold new P1's and have no reason to believe it is not correct.
Had mine 10 months now, and still think it is fantastic. Probably lost a shedload of cash, especially with the extras etc I've bought, but it's worth it. Any other car is just so bloody boring to drive. My only problem is what to replace it with ......
Come and have a ride in mine if your thinking about exhausts etc. I've got a equal length manifold on it now, which is just awesome.
