Default BC Coilover ring stuck

The very bottom adjuster ring on the BC coilovers are stuck solid, wanting to adjust the ride height and can't at the mo.

Any tricks or tips to free it up?
Fitted and last adjusted 3yrs ago, I've cleaned the threads up and sprayed WD40, hoping it will soak in over time.

Once they are free, don't use WD40 to "lube" them up. Use copper grease.

As I've found recently changing suspension and brakes, wd40 is hopeless at penetrating.

I've found PlusGas locally and Halfords do their own penetrating fluid, both superior to wd40 for this requirement.

Apex had said this PlusGas....is it a spray?, I'll see what Halfords have then, start to soak them for Friday, hopfully help my mechanic....he also says don't heat them even with a heat gun on low, damages the oil inside apparently.

I think PlusGas is available in a spray, but I got it in a can with a little droplet spout thingy.

It really is good, it helped with my 19mm strut bolts which were resisting breaker bar + weight of a man

It's only failed me so far on Brembo caliper bolts, but to be fair they had calcified and in some freak of science had formed an alloy bond stronger than any of the metal surrounding it

Halfords didn't have either ambersil or plusgas, only different one was a 3in1 brand, penatrating spray, just read like wd40 to me.

I'll try A1 motor mania 2mo, if not just have to leave it to the garage to figure out.

The 3in1 stuff is great. Its actually made by wd40 too which sorta proves the point that their flagship product isnt intended for penetrative work.

Maybe the last resort that then, I would like to get something to spray on to start working for Friday.

If all else fails, carefully cut it off with something like a Dremel. My old set seized on good and solid, and then got mangled with the C spanner trying to remove it. In the edit wasn't worth trying to get it off in one piece.

So are you still running the coilovers without the bottom ring?
Thought it was needed as a final lock, so your height setting doesn't move?

Sorry, no - I bought a new one from a distributor. They were alloy so very easily damaged.

I had the same with my BC's.

Common problem apparently if no copper grease was used when fitted.

Looks like none was applied when fitting.
I now have some plusgas, gave the shocks a spray get it soaking in.

Did/how did you undo yours?
