From "The UK SpeedTrap Guide"
http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk

From a reader of the site.

"Just to warn you and your subscribers that Northants have
reintroduced their mobile "safety" cameras on the M1. They are
between junction 15 and the County Boundary and between 15A and
16. The usual spots are around Junction 15 itself and on a bridge
near between 15A and 16

There are no warning signs at all.

These cameras are there solely to catch motorists and to make
money as without any signs there can be no deterrent effect.

Daily details are posted on the Northants police website

http://www.northants.police.uk/

These cameras caught hundreds of unsuspecting motorists last
year and while it may be good for my business I consider the use of
these cameras to be a travesty. I gather that mobile cameras are
exempt from the Government's proposals."

The only protection from the systems they use is not to speed or a
good Laser Jammer, They us LTI 20-20 Laser guns with Video
System.

Again from another reader...

The same set up is being used in Gwent also . They park above the
motorways M4 & M50 - which they said they would never do !!!

The vans are white or blue Peugot with little signs on the, "Think" .
Gwent now has 7 of these vans in circulation .
Also a green Nissan Primera with a front mounted camera , and a
beaten up old red transit with the camera the back and one rear door
open .

The Nissan has been seen parked with its bootlid open and officers
in plain cloths .

Spotted two vans just yesterday at 3.30 pm at junction 23 on M4 and
the Usk turning from the M50 .

Red face

Feckin' typical.

They've completely lost the plot!

I had the misfortune to visit Brum three times in a week last month, and had to go through three sets of roadworks each way. All carried a 50 limit because of the workmen, yet I was the only one even approaching that speed. Was it Policed? Was it ****!

Too busy catching people on the M1 doing 78 on a clear road, or something equally ridiculous. And yes, someone was sent a ticket for doing that speed on the M1 last year.

Who wants to catch rapists, murders and carjackers anyway! They add a little colour

Thumbs up

At least they are disclosing (some of?) the locations and trying to explain the logic behind the deployment in particular locations. No doubt this is a requirement of the govt. trial. I doubt whether many have the time to read all the websites related to a long journey though
