Default Changing Front & Rear Discs & Pads

Anyone know if there is a how to or any advise on changing the discs and pads on a Widetrack Blob STi?

Not too fussed over the disc, but more the pad and caliper part.

Do the rear pistons need winding in?

Thanks

Pistons will push back quite easily as long as they are not seized - no wind-back tool required

Don't over tighten the mounting bolts if you remove the calipers as they are known to strip the threads, if you are only changing the pads no need to remove them though

Caliper can stay on the car making it dead easy. The hardest part of the brake changes are the caliper bolts being seized, but that's only relevant for a disc change!

Take wheels off, pull a little retaining clip (looks like a mini hairclip) out of the two pins which run through the back of the caliper. Bash the pins out with a punch (be careful) and then the pads will just slide out backwards.

If they're tight against the disc, use a flathead screwdriver and gently push the pistons back into the caliper. Removing the brake fluid reservoir cap may make this easier.

Slide the new pads in, pop the pins back in, pop the retaining clips back in, jobs a good un'.

I saw a really good series of videos for a Hawk STI (brakes same as our Widetrack ones) and he does a pad change on one of the videos. YouTube for "Machine Zealots".

Thanks for the info guys! Im changing the discs and pads. Seems pretty straight forward. I did the rears today, couldn't do the front due to the caliper bolt seized on, and ran out of time. But ive now developed a ABS light im guessing its the dreaded ABS Tone Ring?? There seems no avoiding damaging them.. My discs were solid stuck to the hub

Im going to strip them back down tomorrow to inspect an see if it is infact the ABS Ring. Fingers crossed its not!!
