But how much is the basic car in the UK and how much for that sort of conversion?
I bet it's between 30% and 50% MORE than the Yanks pay?

Would love a test drive, I bet it's fun with that power in a rear wheel drive, power to weight ratio of a Porsche 997 or better

UK price, £26000, or £28000
USA price, $25000, or $28000
Actual USA price in £: £16,407, to £18,375
Now, who would have one at THAT price?????
And WHY are Subaru and IM ripping us off again???

I think a large part of the price difference is the high uk tax rates.

No, it's really not. Do some checks.
it's down to Subaru and IM greed. It always has been.
Edited to say: actually, you could be right. UK VAT is 20%, and I'm not sure if there is another new car tax too?
USA sales tax is about 8%.
HOW can they be so rich as a nation with such low taxation rates?
Or more to the point, what the hell do our lot do with all the tax revenue?

They pay for health their health care ,with a population of 311,591,917 give or take .
That's allot of money their government don't have to pay for

It's the same with a lot of stuff in the US, Car parts etc... they tend to be a good 1/3 to 25% cheaper over there.

I'd say it's more teething problems rather than say "Crawford performance can't map a car properly"
He said he can map it up to 3 times a day...Obviously trying new things with it as it produces a lot more power as a like for like over the EJ 2.0

Yes, that was interesting. And if it's over there, it must meet the emission rules too?

I like it, I think 300ish through the rear wheels would be enough though, looks like it goes like a stabbed rat, I bet it's a hand full in the wet through the twisties.

140hp in the 5 is enough in the wet, let alone 400+
Trying to drift

This is probably a silly idea but could you put the engine from the brz in a blob scoob as they are both the 2.0L? Because the brz engine make more power than the blob one...?

Not unless you want to buy a lexus gearbox and convert to rear wheel drive

Haha that'd be a no then. I was just wondering if it were a possibility as I have no idea about these things. Thanks.

If they used a "Subaru style" bell-housing then it would fit, but all the electrics + ECU would need to be added.
The UK has high car prices, because historically we had to "protect" rubbish quality over-priced product from reliable cheaper imports, basically the Government allowed higher profits for all.
Don't forget the 10% car tax that was applied so they got a cut of the overpriced stock as well !
dunx
P.S. One year old BRZ seen at £20,000, and Litchfield are doing a supercharger kit as we speak...

Many STI's manage 400 bhp so it's about the same, given it's a built motor.
The benefits come from the longer throw crank, giving a better torque curve in a similar manner to an Evo lump.
