Default Help With Alloy Wheels

my wheels need a bit of tlc there black wheels with a machined/diamond cut face but the problem as you can see is that our roads have just destroyed the laquer finish on the face of them

What I'm wanting to do is get rid of all the crap off the face and either be able to polish and buff it up or just spray the actual face of them. I've got an extra wheel that's damaged so can practice on that before going near the wheels on the car so any advice appreciated on what to use for rubbing down first of all then what can be used to get a decent finish.

Also not interested in plasti dipping them doesn't give a great finish IMO
Looking to do this myself to keep costs down

Any advice appreciated

Maybe a coarse sandpaper to rub away the lacquer then a fine wet and dry?

Would imaging all you could do would be rub them down as above and finish with wet and dry, I've just used starchem paint stripper on my bro's Porsche split rims which took all the paint and lacquer off really well ready for sanding then polishing.

As you say have a practice on the fooked wheel and see what works best

fine and very fine wet and dry followed by metal polish (autoglym etc). then a coat of wheel sealant.

Problem is you'll have no lacquer on them, but I did this to a set of wheels a long time ago and they held up well and came up a treat. looked a lot better than when they were lacquered..
