Default Rowleys performance engineering Ltd

Orite guys.

Has anyone had any experience with this company.
The reason i ask is because im buying a 96 wrx sti version 3 this weekend and there is a pile of receipts showing engine work done at this garage.

Im quite chuffed theres receipts for forged rods & pistons, VF34, ACL bearings etc etc all carried out by Rowleys, was Dyno'd there also@306bhp. The only downer is ive been told by the current owner its probably still running the standard ECU.

So can you put my mind at ease and tell me its been put together by a decent company or are you lot going to give me some bad news lol

Thats what ive been told a few times mate,

I hope it is mapped but the current owner has said that when he went to buy it from Rowleys they told him to get it mapped and he should see 330-340bhp.
So going by that i reckon its a standard ecu but ill definately be checking as soon as i buy it.

The standard ecu is mappable, just needs a esl board fitting. So its possible its been mapped but if the company who did all the work said "it needs mapping" and the current owner hasn't then it obviously is still on its original map.
No doubt its been thrashed around with the fueling all over the place, unless its dirt cheap id be leaving it well alone.

Just ask the owner if its had a esl board fitted, if he says no or looks at you with a confused look then get back in your car and drive off.

Im hoping it is a "daughterboard" its got but im not getting my hopes up.

The owner doesnt know much about ecus and i dont wanna go and ask him if i can pull up his carpet to check so i really dont know what to do,im in two minds whether to buy it and get it mapped or leave well alone.

I can say though that since the engine work has been done its done very few miles and been looked after so i may take the chance with it and buy it

You think the seller is going to let you rip his carpet up, remove the ecu and then open it up ????
