Bugeye WRX Wagon buying Advice?
I'm finally biting the bullet and upgrading to a WRX Bugeye Wagon. Problem is I don't know much about them/what to look for. Reason I'm upgrading is simply that I want more power. Not looking at modding, just want a great all round car out of the box. If my Blob GX is anything to go by, the bug should be the same.
What should I look for when viewing one? I have seen one on the AT which is for £2,490 and has done 117k with the last cambelt change at 80k miles. Has FSH and looks in good condition. It's a 2001 model. It doesn't mention how many owners it's had.
I plan on keeping the car for a while, as I think it'll be sufficient for my needs. How long do these engines last? I do around 8k miles a year at the most.
I know the price isn't much and maybe a little on a cheap side but by the pictures it looks like a good car.

Well I bought my wagon in 2011 for £3500 with 59k on it 6 owners on a '52 plate, and it is mint.
The engine with appropriate servicing last a long time.
They are the best all round car I have ever owned, this one is totally standard bar a JDM strut brace.
Good luck in the search.

I had two Bugeyes, saloon and wagon. Good all round cars. The wagon had full leather and was in WR blue. Never missed a beat, they ain't young now but all the usual buying rules apply, service history, visual checks, owner attitude HPI etc etc
There are some pictures in my gallery.
Not many about so don't expect the search to be easy. But good luck.

That is the car in question, what should I look for when test driving it? I've only owned a N/A GX so unsure.
Thanks for the advice.

listen out for the engine to be running sweet with no knocking sound as i notice its got a towbar so might have been used to tow trailers or a caravan and might have had hard use. also check out the rear suspension is ok for the same reason. look out for a smokey turbo as well. a service history would be a good indication its been looked after. good thing is it looks standard and not modified.

Thanks again for the reply! I will note those things and try to find them if present. Does the price seem reasonable for the age/mileage? It looks in pretty good nick.

seems ok, just dont rush to buy the first car as its a buyers market at the moment so lots of bargains to be had. seems a pretty straight car from the ad but obviously first impressions seeing it in the metal will count. if its a straight unmodded car your after it looks like it will fit your needs. good luck with it.

It doesn't look too bad nice and clean, but I don't think I'd pay over 2k for it.
I bought my 2003 52reg Bug wrx wagon (privately) last August. It's very tidy and had done 72,000 miles with a good history.
I paid £2500, it did have morette headlights and a boost controller which I sold for a combined total of £450......
