did anybody notice how road rage incidents dropped sharply when they bought a scoob???

when I (and my girlfriend) were driving her Corolla, the road rage was in plentiful supply - people thrasing past if you were doing 30, in a 30 limit etc. I think that it's all car related, i.e. Psychological...

driving the scoob and it NEVER happens - weird... when i tootling along at the limit, i get no abuse or anything - and nobody attempts to pass dangeruosly... spooky

anybody else get this, in wife's cars, coutesy cars etc?

Unhappy

You get plenty of idiots trying to race though.

I did find in an Astra GTE I used to have, that if I flashed someone on the motorway to move over, most of the time they would. If my girlfriend was driving though, they would rather blow up their engine than pull over.

Quite the opposite for me I'm afraid.

I get Wa***rs trying to overtake me in 30's, 40's, 50's etc leading up to blind bends or on hills sometimes even on straight sections. More often than not they're driving a BMW! Apologies in advance if anyone on here drives a BMW but everyone I come accross thinks they rule the road. Tossers!

If it's a dodgy overtake, I'll let them go past, until it's safe to teach them a lesson on a straight stretch of road later on (if the oppertunity arrises) with a bird gesture as I pass

eg. Had a escort look right at me and as soon as he spotted the scoob he floored it whilst i remained at the same speed. Sad buggers.

I have found that alot the steriotypical "Boyracers" tend to not try and race me, and even slow down so they don't overtake me. I have noticed that the people who act like idiots more are business people in expensive Mercedes or BMW's, with all my other cars they used to ignore me, but now I think they feel as though they have something to prove.

Thumbs down

My lastest incident ...

Joining the A24 not far from Cowfold, southbound a few days ago.

VW Bora TDi infront of me. He put's his foot down to over take 2 cars. I follow him, he pulls over (still getting quicker) and I fly past. Get up to 80ish and start to cruise.

Next thing this Bora is flying past me. I steadily gain on him and check my speed. It's not far off "lock him up and throw the keys away" mph! but still well under the top speed of a standard UK Impreza Turbo.

What is it with these people? Do they get a buzz at thinking they are faster than a Scoob. (maybe)

Don't they realise our cars (un-modded) will happily cruise at 140mph ... plus ?

At least the Bora driver went home happy ;-)

Unusual situation, my experience is that when I drive my wifes hack metro (spiritly) I admid all and saundry cut me up, overtake in the most stupid of places etc. When I`m in the Scoob the respect shown seems to be nothing short of reverence! amazing I can be podling along without a care and all the prospective boy racers follow along without any hint of aggrivation. amuses me to the extent that I have deliberatly driven slowly and still they are reluctant to overtake.
One interesting senario though, I live in a small village (30 limit) and on a number of occations I noticed a baseballed capped boy racer tearing through the village, 60 plus on every occation.
Just pulled out of my drive, increased speed (after 30 limit) to about 55, he was right up my **** undecided whether to overtake before a sharp 90 deg right hander, I didn`t brake and turned the bend, unfortunatly for him he didn`t...I saw the tow truck pulling him out on my return home..must admit I had a wry smile on my lips.
As Dick Emery would say...Oh you are awfull! but methinks the **** learned a lesson.

And the lesson endith here ...

"thou shall not take bends at 55mph unless thee has 4WD"

VW Bora.....hmmmmm, psychological......hmmmmm. I had an "situation" with a VW Bora on Wednesday night just past, seems they are psychologically affected when driving a VW Bora.

I was travelling in the fast lane of a dual carraigeway doing @80mph, there was a car in front and a Bora behind. Now the Bora was that close behind that I couldnt even see his headlights in my rear view (and that is no exxageration). I didn't have the option of moving into the 1st lane due to the amount of traffic (2 second rule.....lol). The car in front pulled in, but I carried on at about 80mph.
By this time the Bora was pi$$ing me off, so I slowed down to about 70mph (speed limit...yeh). Once I pulled in (once it was SAFE) he pulls along side and starts mouthing abuse.

Now I can put up with him being a TW&T because he was so close but the fact that he was acting if I had done something wrong. I was RAGING by this time. Unfortunately I was unable to retaliate (Saxo Diesel) which pi$$ed me of even further (so its up for Sale by the way......to ******* slow).
