need a quick few answers before purchase.
Hi people im purchasing a prodrive ecu today for my99 uk ive read in old post from years back that it seems theres a risk i could end up messing my immobiliser and alarm up by swapping the ECUs over ...........?? But the guy selling said its plug and play and also some of the other members have said iut literally was a 5 minute swap over and had no problems at all........ can anyone give me a definate answer as dont want to waste 200 quid on something i cant use and if it means going to dealership and spending loads moretowards re-coding etc i shant bother.......thanks

I really wouldn't do it if i were you.
Have you spoke to one of the mappers yet i.e JGM or Duncan@racedynamix
I can't imagine you'll see much if any difference by swapping them over.

Just the ecu alone is not plug and play on the MY97 car for definite. I think it is the same on the MY99
It is plug and play if you have the matching immobiliser box and the transponder chip out of the key. Have done it on two different MY97 cars no problems.
To make full use of the ecu you will need
1) decat centre section
2) Prodrive (or similar) back box
3) Silicone Y pipe from turbo to intercooler
4) run it on +97 ron fuel
5) there is a query regarding the size of the restrictor pill that assists controlling the boost.
This was a good cheap mod on the pre 99 cars that could not be mapped at the time and achieved a respectable 250bhp ish with a nice hike in torque, slightly better fuel consumption and the ability to pass an MOT.
But the MY99 car can be mapped on the existing ecu and you will probably get better value for money from this route.
Good luck
