Hi All,

My brother sold his car a while ago to a third party on the understanding that he would swap the sale. This never happened.

The buyer then sold the car on to another person and has "lost" his contact details.

My brother wants to buy the plate back from the current owner.

Just seem to be having problems tracking them down.

The DVLA will not give out this information

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to say its to late. Your brother should have put the plate on retention before letting the car go. The current owner of the car is now the plate user and is not compelled to sell it.

Sorry to resurrect an old post.

We managed to get hold of the new owner (via this post), and were in the process of sorting things out.

The new owner has since dropped off the face of the planet.

If by any chance he returns to this thread, please can he get in touch.
