I did this with an Alfa Romeo "specialist" that sold me a duff engine that was "perfectly servicable"

I told him I would post this vid with his name on every Alfa forum unless he gave my money back.

Which he did after I sent him the you tube link

if he was a decent tuner he would of told you not to unblock the up pipe just replace it with an sti decat version.
if its breaking down unblocking it s just a temporary fix.
confirmation he is a cowboy

Hope you get your money back . Appalling lack of customer care.

You should know what they're like from their TV ads.

This post has just come to my attention....

i think i should add the last part that you missed out.

yes the new turbo that mnm engineering supplied broke, this was bought for you via another company to be fitted by mnm engineering.

The turbo broke, and the turbo company was contacted to try and arrange for a new one to be sent, as should have been insured. This was a long winded process trying to get another turbo out of the company.

The outcome in the end, was mnm engineering paid for the customer to have a new turbo out of his own money, to keep the customer happy ??? not to be slagged off over forums

What more do you want, can't be fairer than that.

The mechanical work was not a problem which was carried out - it was the turbo supplied by another company.

Yes it was long winded waiting for insurance and turbo company to sort anything out. So MnM Engineering done the best thing and bought you a new one himself.

This seems to be another thread that ends up in a slightly different light to what it started out.

I once had a shop which bought things, enhanced them and then sold them to customers (PCs) , or added things to customers' existing PCs.
Very occasionally the kit supplied to us was faulty, or failed under warranty and it could be difficult, the customer expecting us (quite rightly) to put it right. The problem is that if we bought, say, a specialised piece of equipment as an 'instant' replacement we couldn't get our money back on the item under warranty, so we ended up with something in stock that we might not sell for some time.

I do have sympathy with small businesses.

However, it is something that you have to take the knock for as well, and the measure of any individual or organisation is how they handle problems.

I notice that the OP has editted the initial post to read 'Sorted'.

Perhaps they would care to add a little more feedback?

I also wonder whether we as a community are getting to the point where any post that's critical of a business should be brought to the attention of that business, in order that it can respond.

(I believe that only last week we had a business that had been the subject of criticism requesting the removal of a thread and mentioning solicitors).

heres the story again.
I bought a blobeye wrx, the turbo seized on the way home after buying it,
I went to mnm engineering, they offered to fit a secondhand one,or order a new one,
I went for the dearer option of new one fitted, £600
They fitted it, i went to duncan graham at hayes engineering for a remap on rolling road £410
It only made 150bhp, duncan suggested a blocked uppipe
So i rang mnm engineering, he said he checked it when he took the turbo off,and said was fine
Duncan graham was adament it was uppipe
So i booked it with mnm engineering anyway £90
It was a blocked uppipe.
So i booked it back in with duncan graham on rolling road £210, only made 249bhp, it would not boost higher than just over standard, they checked everything and said it was a duff turbo, (duncan was right about the upipe)
So i rang mnm engineering(10am on saturday) to explain.
He got said defensively there is nothing wrong with the turbo, so i said ill ring him back so he could have a chat, with a fellow mechanic, and regarded as a scooby guru.
He wouldnt answer my calls
Graham said he could fit another turbo for me(which he doesnt normally do,but he was obviously frustrated for me, and wanted to see results)
So after losing total confidence with mnm engineering, i got graham to change the turbo.
On removal of the supposedly new turbo, it had severe in and out play, therefore losing boost theough the seals, thats why it wouldnt boost past 0.6 bar.
I took the turbo to mnm engineering to show him,he said straight away it was fooked.
All i wanted was cost price for the turbo, he said he would send it back to the supplier.
I waited 3 weeks for mnm engineering to tell me that the company will only replace the turbo,as they couldnt prove if it was like that already.
I said i dont need another turbo, especially a shoddy quality one like that.
Mnm engineering then said, i can either take the turbo and sell it, to get my money back (i would have got about £60 back)
Or i can wait till he sells it, then he will give me the money for what he sells it for.
I thought this customer care was shocking, as the turbo had done 200 miles,(travelling to and from garages), and i had wasted my money on 2xremaps and rolling roads, which should have been right the first time.
So again, mnm engineering ignored my calls ( why should i keep travelling to the garage in ny own time, when the business has contact telephone numbers)
I rang trading standards and explained what he offered me, and they said it was not the right way.
So out of principal, i explained my situation on forums and facebook.
Hey presto i get £250 back which was cost price for the turbo.
SO No MNm engineering wasnt out if pocket, i was

Do you know anything about the sale/supply of goods? If you've supplied a part to a customer YOU are duty bound by law for any recompense in the event that the part fails. What happens between you and your supplier is between the two of you. Don't think that you've acted all noble by fulfilling your obligation under law. If you haven't refunded the customer in full plus any extraneous expenses he has incurred you are liable under law to do so.

Absolute rubbish

To fit a new turbo you should always inject a small amount of oil into the feed then by finger rotate the turbo blades to move the oil around the bearings.

If mmm were a proper garage they would know this they would also have felt the in and out on the shaft as when they were priming it (bet they didn't)

To say the company sending this turbo out wouldn't have known is crap if it's a reputable turbo company what would be the point in sending a goosed turbo out and why even build it with that much play in the shaft it's all crap sooner these Micky mouse firms get closed the better

99% of turbo failure is oil contamination or poor fitting.

Take your car and run

What happens between mnm and his turbo supplier is not your problem. Your contract is with mnm. You are entitled to your money back in full plus any expense you've accrued by having to rectify the faults. Speak to Trading Standards again.

If you were a decent person and reputable company you'd refund the guy all the money he's paid you.
Unfortunately there are companies like you up and down the country making mugs of genuine enthusiasts.

It's not the car that's put you off it's the incompetent mechanics and fraudsters that have done this!

And **** that I'd be asking for the money you paid mnm in full, no bull!
