Default what wiper blades?

Evening all.

Just wondering what window wipers people use? The car (Blob WRX) came with the flat ones fitted and they are great up to about 70. Anything over that and they lift off in the bottom right hand corner of the windscreen. At high speeds there must be nearly 30cm of the wiper that dont work.

Are the original ones any good?
IF not can any one recommend a good set that will actually work.

Many thanx
chappy

I have tried the bosh ones as well and they do the same thing.
Could the lifting off be a problem with the wiper arm and not the blade ?
Do you have a little spoiler thing fitted to your wiper arm?

Thanx

I run the standard blades and don't have a ptroblem with lift at speed. But I replace them every autumn as Bosch don't seem to last more than a year nowadays. Used to prefer champion as they stayed supple longer, but can't seem to get them anymore.

Miss my old Porsche tho, had 3 speed wipers. Normal, Fast and Panic lol.

Never had that problem with the bosch. cheap ebay copies fair enough, theres no spoiler thing on the arms, jst that the bosch ones seem to follow the shape of windscreen pretty well where the cheaper ones fail to do this which would then cause uplift under higher speeds. ive got the bosch on mine, my old mans got them on the two of his cars plus most of my mates who are car enthusiasts swear by them.

Just get some rain x and you'll be fine. At 70 the water will just get blown off the windscreen by the wind blast. I've been using rain x for years and barely use my wipers at all. £5 to £6 and you need not worry anymore..

If not then Goodyear flat aero blades are good.

Aero blades look **** unless you`re driving a Volvo. Bosch wipers are excellent, used with Rain X or equivilent.

+1 for these. They spread a layer of silicone with every wipe which in my opinion works as well if not better than rainx. They last about 3 times as long as standard ones (although they cost that too!). One of the best practical mods you can do in England!

No joke at anything over 60mph in light to medium rain you'll barely need to use them as it beads off the screen.

I used these (group buy on FTO forum) I thought they were really good........................for about 3 months and then they seemed to lose their effectiveness

I put Deamon Shine in my washer water (no cleaning fluid) and windscreen stays as if its been "rain-x-ed" all year round. Just give a quick squirt when going at speed an clear water just flies off , so no soapy marks where the wipers dont reach and bug splatter doesnt seen to stick either. It just means any wiper will do , as when it rains the water just flies off.

Another vote for PIAAs for all the reasons stated.

It is quite something driving down a motorway at night in pouring rain without the wipers on but with better visibility than with conventional blades! (This only works safely on unlit motorways, and in day light you will need them on at an intermittent setting.)

To the person who found they only worked for about three months: the instructions that come with the blades say you will need to run the blades over a dry windscreen for a few minutes every now and then to refresh the silicone deposit.

Still think that rain-x is best. You can drive without wipers on (cos there really is no need) on motorway either at night or day. No need for intermittent wipes and instead of forking out £20 for the piaa wipers rainx costs £5 and that'll last you god knows how long.

I use the aero blades from Tesco at £5 each.
Perfectly adequate and last over a year.

Speaking of Rain X. I have something from NANO Technologies, german water repellant, mix two bottle together to make the solution up and lasts about 12 months per application. You've just reminded me I need to do it again

It's bollocks if you ask me. I bought a pair for my car and a pair for my Dad's car. Now these wipers come with "special" cleaner for the window which i only used on my car but not my Dad's. The water was still not beading 3 months later so the layer of silicon thing is bullsh1t.

PIAA cleaner = Rain-X.

Result - buy bosch wipers at half the price and a tub of Rain-x for the same effect!
