Does the brake upgrade include braided hoses as well ??
Has anyone else had problems with pad life - heard last week that someone only got 6000 miles from their first set

I assume the P1 upgrade is the same Prodrive/Alcon 330mm one I've just had fitted to the RB5.
It doesn't come with braided hoses, but I got some from Scoobysport and the dealer fitted them at the same time.

Kryten,
Did you use the goodridge brake hoses out of interest ??
BTW, the 4-pots that come off - any idea on disc diamter of the standard P1 ???
And can you put 16 inch wheels over the old 4-pots - information for selling them !!
Thanks,
Gastro

Hi Gastro bud. The standard discs off my P1 were 295mm diameter. I've sold them now and use standard hoses with the Prodrive upgrade (fitted new by dealer). Thinking of upgrading the hoses now as the stopping is excellent but could do with a bit less sponginess.

I too would like the braided hoses.
It's the only thing the Prodrive/Alcon kit is missing.
In the old days, when they were fitting DS3000 pads, you would only get very low mileage and the disks would be shagged out as well.
I've now got the DS2000 pads, have done 9000 miles and they are still looking good. Very little wear on the disks as well. Pretty good considering I live in Milton Keynes and they got a real-good work out every day.
Regards
Kurt

Yes, I did get the goodridge ones plus new fluid (car is two years old so seemed like a good idea). Didn't see the point of skimping on a few quid when the actual upgrade cost a fair packet!
_Some_ 16 inch wheels will fit over 4 pots but there are some (from seeing previous posts on here) that won't. Caveat emptor and all that
As for selling, I don't think you'll have much trouble as 4pots are fairly sought after by those poor MY98 and earlier drivers who have 'Fred Flintstone' inspired brakes...

Steve, I wasn't commenting on the merits of 2/4 pots (never drive a scoob with 2 pots), just on my experience of selling my 4 pots.
They sold in a couple of days with several backup buyers if the first one fell through.
