The last 2 are kind of the same thing. Should have been Modded 2.5 failed and standard 2.5 failed.

If you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any.

I've had three mildly modified 2.0's and never had any problems with any of them.

V3 Type r failed after full service, took it back to the same garage for rebuild and that failed, rebuilt myself and still running, well it was the last time it was in a car, it's on the garage floor at the moment so not sure if that counts.

54 plate 2.0L WRX PPP 94,000 miles and counting.

I put the last two options because some people will use a secondhand engine rather than rebuild. Hopefully we're getting genuine votes.

I blew my 2.0 WRX up but that was running 370 and had just done 5 laps of the ring, before letting go at 140 on the autobahn!

Standard MY00 running 350ish (AFP 18g and supporting mods), swapped to a full three inch system...was due a remap but didn't get round to it; boost spike on WOT in fifth snapped a rod and stuck it through the block.

New engine is built but not in; de-stroked 2.5 CDB with all the bells and whistles. You need another poll option

2.0 '01 bugeye WRX with 87k, bottom end just failed, replaced with another lower mileage EJ205, if/when it goes again, will be fitting another one
Car had good oil and no bits in it so must have just fatigued over time or else oilway was blocked.

im trying to gauge what people have done to the standard engine,

to gauge if the engine failed due to mods or in standard tune,

im not including engines that have been out, rebuilt and bored to different sizes that just confuses the issue even more.

So to clarify, this is directed towards completely standard Subaru engines, totally unmodified, but takes into account modifications such as turbos, injectors, intercoolers etc?

Current Impreza (which is for sale) is running the standard engine happily at 284/317 with no issues.

Previous Impreza's oil pump blew at 70,000 miles (prior to ownership), destroying engine, turbo and exhaust system. Wouldn't have wanted to be the owner with that bill (can't remember from the history if it was done under warranty).
