Default BRZ Type RA

Not sure if I'm a bit late on this but for those who don't know Subaru are bringing out a Type RA BRZ.......in japan I'm sure this wont stop the usually suspects from importing them though.

Take a peak on pistonheads for the full write up.

I can see the thinking of fitting steelies with most people preferring there own tyre/wheel combo and again with the suspension also being standard.

Thoughts?

No more powerful though.

The Impreza's were supplied with steel wheels as they were typically destined to become rally cars and would therefore have the relevant wheels, suspension etc. fitted for the event being attended e.g. gravel, tarmac, snow, etc.

It's already 200bhp as stock anyway, with a good balance and lightweight it will be fairly quick anyway. Plus this car was designed more for pleasure of driving rather than speed (a bit like original MX-5 or AE86). I love that it comes with a rollcage, space for spare wheels for racetrack and steelies that keep the price down and let you put your wheels on without any regrets!

I want one!

You say it keeps the costs down but it's actually £500 more than the top of the line s JDM model, which isn't surprising I suppose given other lightweight road track cars.

Still nice idea but to little to late from Subaru I think. Also I'm not sure they should go with the RA badge given the history around the original RA. Has it even been round the ring yet? Be interesting to see how it sells.

The low/mid/top spec now seem to have names

Top spec = Type S JDM = SE LUX UK
Mid spec = Type R JDM = SE UK
Low spec = Type RA JDM = S UK

here is some sales figures from Japan IIRC

Subaru sold 3551 BRZ in 2 month which is about 4 times more than Subaru Japan's purposed.

Type S = 78.4%
Type R = 18.5%
Type RA = 3.1%

2.0i SE manual 24,995 181
2.0i SE automatic 26,495 164
2.0i SE Lux manual 26,495 181
2.0i SE Lux automatic 27,995 164
