Not long had my sti but just wondering is castrol edge 5w 30 an ok oil to use to top up engine oil if req. getting oil change in 4 thousand miles but just curious if it's ok to use on these engines. It's a 53 plate car

 

Wouldnt be my choice. A decent 10/40 grade imho would be better

It may well do. Very few people use 5/30. Most will use 5/40 or 10/40 or even 10/50. Using 5/30 as a top up probably wont do any harm. Id just never put it in my car.
