Default Anyone ever owned a evo 4??

Found this evo 4. Guy has lost his licence and needs rid of it. Very low price thinking of buying it for some fun and selling on in few months.
Just want to know what to look for on them.
Cheers

I think the big issue with the 4 is an issue with crank walk, fairly common problem so mayve already been sorted but worth looking out for. Apart from that then just the usual checks as they're fairly old now

Yup crank walk and AYC issues were the biggest issues on the 4, nice car otherwise, I was going to buy one back in 2000 but ended up with a new scoob instead

And they throw rods well !
Mates just fitted a rod jobbed 7 engine in his 4 after chucking a rod at about 310bhp.
Also rotten rear chassis legs are a massive problem on the early evo.

If its got a 5 engine then don't worry as they're a lot better.

I had an evo4 few years back, great car and as above ya they give alot of trouble with the crank. most of them that are still around rarely would have the original engine. I bought mine with the engine in trouble so fitted evo6 block and swapped everything else over. car never gave me any trouble, but they're very heavy on petrol.

I'd avoid unless it's got a later engine and ayc is ok. They also rust beyond belief.

They're worth nowt though unless they've got a rod job or stroker.
I'd say its over priced and if it were rust free and as stated id say £1800.
Also 4's don't have brembos either.
