Type R or Blob eye?
As a few people may know got a version 3 sti type r running around 400bhp, which I do love but I may fancy a blob eye sti.
question is do I sell mine and buy one, swap mine for one or buy a blob and keep both, but probs wouldnt be possible lol?

From someone thats just went from a 340bhp type ra too a 418bhp blob, there very different cars, the blob is lovely to drive but not as mad and fun as the ra, i would have hated to have got a standard one as it feels about the same power wise due to the weight.
best too get a good test drive in one first.

I used to a have a version 3 type r like yours fairly standard though. ive got a blobeye now and have had for about two years. if you are just using it as a toy then i would keep the type r, it a better blast, unless you buy a blob with a lot of money spent on it.

I'm going the opposite way.
I currently have a Blob STI PPP and looking into the Type R's. Had a Classic Saloon Turbo and Bug WRX but have always wanted a Type R. As they will be getting rarer in the future my thought are get one now as there will still be plenty of Blob's or Hawks in the future.

Ive recently done this. Previous car was a 600bhp Type R and I now have a 450 bhp JDM blob,
I dont miss the Type R anywhere near as much as I thought I would. That said though If the blob was standard then I wouldnt enjoy it anywhere near as much as I do.
So if you're swapping for a standard one, don't it will feel dull in comparisson.

I came from a 480BHP Type R and now in a 300BHP Blob STI and prefer the Blob,
The ride and build is so much nicer in the blob. The Type R was mental and was a lot of fun to drive but the Blob for me is a better base (As I'll be modding it anyways when funds permit) + Plus you can have a conversation with passengers without the exhaust drowning out any talking. It's still very fast but it doesn't feel like your going fast.
I always had that nagging feeling that something would break + With a car that age things start going wrong: Bearings, bushes, suspension parts, Coil packs, sensors etc
I've driven from my house to grimsby without stopping (5hours) and got out without no problems. Same trip in the type r, I had to stop for fuel and a stretch and had to be peeled out the other end.
So if it's a weekend car for short trips/run the Type R is the one to go for
