Fella, you need to completely forget about putting a turbo on your car, its crazy to even think about. Not only will the costs be huge but the time and effort will also be huge. Then ofcourse the fact it will be almost worthless when its done, I mean who on earth will buy a turbo charged GX when a proper WRX can be had for a couple of grand.
Sell your car for maybe a couple of grand at a push and get yourself a wrx.

You could do the swap but you have to swap everything pretty much, except your shell. You could turbo charge your GX which is cool because not many people do that, but it won't be as powerful and reliable as stock WRX... If I were you I would leave this as it is and keep it as a daily and then save up for a classic uk turbo and mod that. Having a turbo as an only car is a pain because you have to warm it up and cool it down every time you go somewhere...
But that's just my opinion

tbh I think that sounds like the beat option. Ive spent to much on it and if I were to sell it I would probably never get what I wanted for it. People always trying yo rip people off ect. thanks for the info guys :-)

Car drives OK, its my daily mut-mobile estate for my 40 mile a day commute, so wasnt after anything special. better MPG would have been nice (about 29) but... hump! its what I wanted for the winter with 5WD. Summer come and "daddy's loud car" (quoting my 5yo boy) comes out to play.

To add value to the thread.
yes.. strip what extras you can from your GX and sell it... sorry
Go n spend the cash from that and your grand in your pocket on a nice stock WRX.

it woudnt be worth it when it comes to sell it. But if your not bothered about selling it then its fine. U will need the headers and up pipe, wiring harness. Inlet manifold, dohc turbo heads with oil feed pipe, turbo, downpipe, ecu with maching chip key, intercooler, turbo inlet pipe, wrx stock airbox setup. Probably a lot of work. I have everything u will need for the conversion apart from the turbo and down pipe. Very cheap pm me if ur interested
