Diff noises advice please??

Default Diff noises advice please??

Hey guys i owned my hatchback sti 08 plate now for a little while as it was rainning tonight thought i try abit of drifting and few donoughts so switch the diff in to manual and dialed in until lock icon came up then started doing some donoughts i noticed alot clunking noises after just turning the wheel on low speed turning as i came down the settings back to normal started dissaper then put it back on auto and she seems fine, are these noises from diff just be locked and split the power between the seperate wheels or have i broke something advice please??

Nothing broken, they just don't like slow speed maneuvers.

Scoobies also don't like dounuts i'd have it open for those if i were you.

Cheers pal appreciate the feedback was panicing a lil i didnt like doing it anyway so not gunna bother again just leave it in auto + from now on

Yeah I locked the diff in the snow once in my Hawkeye and forgot to turn it off, it made a horrendous noise in a car park and juddered terribly.

Another time I was running along and the diff light kept coming on intermittently, thought I had a problem. Stopped and checked the car couldn't see anything wrong. Light continued. Later that day I checked the car over and realised I had a nail in a tyre and hadn't spotted it due to the stiff sidewalls. Changed the tyre and the light went out!

Here lieth the problem.

If you wish to do such actions, then the diff needs to be fully open, not fully locked.
