Backbox or whole system?
If it is just a backbox, performance wont come into it so noise wise, I have a Cobra Sports 3" system with a 4 1/2" rear box, sounds fantastic on chat, nur spec-r would be my other choice. If budget is an issue, plenty come up on ebay but make sure of fitment.

Peoples idea of "best sounding" varys massively so you will get a long list of exhausts. Best thing to do is go along to a meet, most imprezas have aftermarket systems so you'll have many to look at and listen too.

I have a full hayward and scott turbo back system. Full decat. Suttle backbox yet its loud as hell with pops and bangs after a good run.

Favourite part is the build quality and the deep rumble at idle

Bad points.

To loud for long trips. Attratcts a bitdof unwanted attention. So careful with gear changes arouns town.

Car is a remapped v reg sti

Im on a custom Hayward and scott and it sounds perfect.
As for performance I am unable to compare as only ever had this exhaust fitted.
