Default Importing a jdm

Ive used the search and who ever created needs a lesson....

Just window shopping but found this site and it seems real easy....
http://www.j-garage.com/sale/usedcars/sale.htm

Has anyone here done it or do you buy them from a dealer that has already imported them?

I thought the exchange rate just now was making it very expensive?

Not worth it now, They are cheaper to buy over here due to the exchange rate.

Yep I looked into this also and it just wouldn't be worth it as you would end up paying well over the odds after adding exchange rate and the mahoosive tax that's involved.

If you are importing I recommend these guys, top people, top service. Regardless of price, if you fancy something, go for it.

That works out at nearly £16k, I sold the same car earlier this year for £8k.

What about the whole trust thing. Let's say the heads gone. You've paid the 18k it's a lot of trust.

Guys that is all very true and I appreciate that but if it's a car you want and you cannot source it in the UK and have the money to justify it then it's only money and fair played to anyone that wants to go for it.

If I would consider it as I've never seen a sg9 forster sti in white but now I have I don't think any other colour will do lol. Anyone know what that would cost to bring over with all taxes etc?

Fully agree, if it's a car you want and impossible to find in uk and have a bit of money, but for me couldn't justify investing to much as I had a ball figure in my head and just went right over the figure after adding up all the costs.

Done it a few times before- but now it just doesn't make sense.

Advertised price is one thing....shipping, import tax, import duty etc etc. all makes it far too expensive now.

With the tax could you not get the dealer to put a bow around it and say gift?
Or remove a plug and list it as a non runner, then post you the real receipt and put a dodgy £6.99 one on the ticket?

Miguel at Newera Imports. Won't be cheap but he's a real gent and sources some great cars. Have a look at the stuff he's sold on his website.

When i looked into it a year or so back based on a £8k car it was an additional £3k on top of the car cost
