Classic 1.6 GX to turbo replica, what do i need and how much will it cost?
Im getting my first car next month which i will keep for 6 months until im 21, then move onto scooby as insurance should drop. I have thought about getting a 1.6 GX Subaru Impreza as a project car and convert it to turbo replica.
So just assume this is my car for now, are these the mods i'll need? Turbo bonnet with scoop, bumper with foglights, P1 splitter, facelift grill, the back will just have a high STI style spoiler. The sides im not really sure about apart from changing to nice rims, would i need skirts? Also bucket seats and momo steering wheel and maybe some nice subwoofers. Oh and most importantly, the exhaust, would i need a new exhaust to get that Subaru rumble sound? How much do you think all this should cost? And do you think this is worth it? Im getting quotes of £2,600 on sport when im 21, haven't checked on 1.6 GX yet.

How much extra would it cost to modify the Impreza you do get. No good buying one, then modifying it and getting a shock when you tell your insurance company you have modified it.

You will need to change the manifold to unequal and then a nice stainless system not to big otherwise it will sound rubbish, and that will give you a bit of a rumble!
I'd change the rear brakes and hubs to discs also get some nice rims with turbo syspension as it will sit and handle so much better,
Change the interior, incl door cards, seats and the steering wheel, and will look sweet
You will get the haters saying save and buy a turbo etc but with insurance costs why not make a nice Na car

Why waste money on a car which you are gonna sell on in a few months. Save the money and put it towards your insurance for thenext car which as alcazar has said - will not nose dive just because you hit 21.
Do you really need the car now as you will probably make a loss on that when you come to sell - pool your money now and buy the car you want or just buy a complete ****ter to get yourself 1 years ncb

As above total waste of time and money to be honest and insurance will not drop much at 21 if at all. Best bet would of been buy a sport and use the money you'd of spent on modding the 1.6 to pay the insurance

Mine dropped from 6k to 1.3k when I turned 21, blob STI. But I have 3 years NCB and experience.. I can imagine yours will be through the roof!
Get a nice Impreza R-Sport, Hawkeye, non turbo. I might know someone with one for sale!

Good postcode I guess?
Oh and before you ask, none of the dodgy stuff. I'm the main driver, main policy holder and my Dad's a named driver to bring it down. Mods declared is a full exhaust system, anything more than that does scare them off though.
I had a hawk sport just like that Got it up for sale now. Lovely car, got it when I was 19 too, he'll be the envy of his friends .
