Wink good mot centre ;)

hi everyone. i made a thread a little earlier about my decat 01 bugeye. the mot is due in a few weeks and a few people have mentioned looking for a 'friendly' mot centre that would be ok putting the car through with the decat.

i live in the cambridgeshire area and wandered if anybody knew of decent garage nearby or in the surrounding areas?

all answerss appreciated.

tim.

Welcome to Halfords Autocentre Cambridge

Why don't you give these guys ago - they look pretty friendly and I'm sure they would be happy to give you an MOT certificate even though your vehicle hasn't passed the emissions test.

No - it is a joke.
No-one will post that kind of info on here.
You will need to get it "word of mouth" from some-one.
I don't know anyone who can do this.

Why don't you just put a cat back on to pass the mot?

If you're going to put a decat on that pushes your emissions over the cars permitted threshold, then be prepared for some compromise. Places that are illegally putting cars through MOTs won't want to be named on a forum.

Surely there isn't any MOT stations that want to keep their DOT license that would be prepared to B/S an emissions certificate for anyone, as all the information is downloaded to the government's central computer and easily traceable!

Depends on how much extra (in cash of course) its worth there while doing it for you Fields It's pretty easy for them to pass a failed car through without any repercussions anyway.

You obviously know more about breaking the law than me.

It's never been a situation that I even have to consider, because my vehicles never fail!

Not unless you count motorcycles. You can do what you want with them as there's no emissions test as part of the MOT.

Current bike is decatted and oxygen sensor removed. A plug in gadget tricks the ECU into running a race map full time!

Revieved a high number of PM's of places to go which was a great help. Like bioforger said its about what you're willing to pay at the end of the day and there's obviously a fair few places about willing to do it.

I'd happily change the system to standard buts its going to be an expensive change for the mot and I was just testing the water to see if there was anyone out there.

Now I've got a few places, happy days!

My MOT never costs anything over £40, which is about the going rate for a test. If you're giving someone a back hander to get it through then you're getting shafted.

It's because of the decat Micky, it's going to be a bit more but I'm weighing up an extra 20 on top compared to the price of buying a standard system. I might not even go down the root in the end as I've found a full second system on eBay for 100 with no bids. Maybe invest in that for future mots.

Put a cat in your boot and say to the mot man I'll pay for fitting to help it pass the mot. They will fit it (maybe) and it should pass.

Mine's got no cat's fitted.

Gets an advisory every year for a noisy exhaust. Nur Spec R is rather quiet, possibly, maybe...

Who is to say that the cat wasn't in place on day of the test?

A "friendly" garage can always do the emissions test on another car to get it through - who's to know?

No camera's at MOT stations.......yet.

Sounds like its more like hold the meter a bit further away from the backbox its literally the only thing I'm worried about on the bug, just changed the ksport pads to some red stuff fast road and a dodgy bulb on the morettes so were good to go.

I would never encourage or post up for 'dodgy' test just to get a pass because its the job of an mot to point out safety issues/faults. I just think the law on the emissions has gone a bit strong on cars and my personal view is that no cat isn't harming other road users.... Just my MPG!
