Which Legacy Do I Want?
Sorry if it's a stupid question.
Looking for a fast estate that's wife + toddler friendly for weekends away, etc. Been looking for an Impreza wagon SL spec for ages but haven't found one that was 'right', so I have decided to consider Legacies . . . of which I know nothing, (I sort of understand Imprezas . . . I had a Blobeye WRX PPP for a year). I have driven a fairly basic 2 litre Legacy and was impressed. Alternatives are Volvo V70 T5, Saab 9-3 HOT, maybe even a BMW 3 Series estate.
I want leather, manual transmission and decent performance, but I'm not a power junkie! Budget up to £6k, although prefer to spend less.
So . . . what spec and model Legacies should I look at?

Having had a TT for a while, converted it to single turbo and had lots of fun with it...
1) Do you need the extra room a legacy gives you? If not get an impreza wagon
2) If you do want the space, consider upping your budget a bit and getting prodrift to find you the later 2.0 single turbo.
TTs are great when working, but suffer with low boost gremlins and can be a PITA, a good single turbo outperforms a TT setup in just about every way.
That said, I love my legacy, its fast, practical and understated.
All just my opinion.

So I want a single turbo Legacy . . . what list of model codes and years should I stick to?

Awesome car IMO - i've had 2 and love my current one to bits. Practical but superbly comfortable for long trips and loads of room inside. Drives and handles well - a little thirsty if you have a heavy right foot, which I do....!

Red STi sweep clocks, Eco Mode Button, Electric Seats, Bilstein Shocks and springs, HID's, 30 MPG + on a run, digital gauges (on mine anyway), JDM twinscroll with 280 bhp standard (without a re-map), excellent build quality and not many about.
Loads of cubbies under the boot floor, reclining rear seats with remote drop down realease, heated wipers's, privacy glass and load cover for the boot.
Brilliant sleeper and made a few big German performance estates look twice .

Digital Boost, Oil Temp and Pressure, it's also a Sat Nav, games and all sorts but loaded with Japanese maps . It's compatable with the DNX stuff though but needs some tweakery to get it going.
I ended up fitting the DNX 7200 and the facia adaptor kit as the multi CD/Radio combo is connected to the AC unit and as the limited band range for the radio. Subaru UK deny all knowledge of an OE adaptor from Subaru but I have a spare Dual Zone Legacy BL/H kit from Japan in the garage.
