bit of info i found:
VF22
This Turbo was used on the V3 Subaru Impreza WRX and has the highest potential output of all of the IHI VF turbos thus making it a good choice for the tuner who is looking for lots of top end power.
You can with a good mapper/tuner and with the correct supporting modifications achieve 17psi by 3000rpm and is well capable up to +400hp.
As with all turbos the more top end power gained results in a slower spool up (more lag). This is because the VF22 uses the larger P20 exhaust housing, This the main factor in this spool issue and is not so much suited to daily driving than some of the other options available.
Although the VF22 is the largest VF series turbo, and can take highest boost levels of all the VF range it is not quite suited for stroked blocks running high boost of more than 20psi+
The VF22 is a ball bearing turbo using 485 comp wheel and as already mentioned the P20 Turbine Housing.
460cfm at 18.0psi

VF22 will not get you 400, would be easier to find a VF23/24 in a better condition then VF22 and will make the power you're after.

I can say that with VF24/23 ( i have used both) are great turbos what the kind of power you are looking for, both turbos have amazing spool, and with a proper map and supporting mods will get you well over 300.
Some people have these turbos running over 350hp.

Vf35
I was running a vf35 on my wrx that was hitting 320 when I had it mapped with pinkies Walbro and up pipe but I had a lot of lag on it I was told it was the up pipe cheap **** was going change the uppipe but didn't bother in the end I ended up breaking the car but yeh I would recommend a vf35 it was hitting 320 with the other cats still on mapper said take them of and take it back and he would guarantee 350+bhp

The vf22 is a laggy turbo, and i mean REALLY laggy turbo, it runs well on the 2.2 on the 22B but on anything else, its got nothing down low, its also very fragile as VF series turbo's go, it doesnt like high boost so forget 400bhp, good for around 350bhp on a 2ltr but not nice to drive compared to the other turbo's out there, you can class it as an old school turbo, nothing, nothing, nothing, BOOM, but by that time everything else has gone.
OP, if you want a 400bhp turbo then this isnt it, go for the recommended ones like the SC42, ones that give you good power throughout the rev range, you are after drivability not lag (which is what this will give you )

Forget about this, its a bag of crap (not your fault yabba, probably just some yank who wrote it).
