Default 2.0 to 2.5 litre

Why did Subaru do this?

They must have had a reason for it?
Any ideas, suggestions?

Think it was to do with the euro 5 standard, less to do with co2 and more to do with nitrogen dioxides ect. Might be totally wrong though!

Emission regulations, the bigger the engine the more **** it's allowed to pump out. The JDM cars still use the 2.0.

Quick question Alyn, how come the UK Mitsubishi Evo's still use a 2.0, with the stricter emissions regs?

There's no ban on the 2.0 emissions level, Subaru just get penalised by taxes/fines/etc.

Maybe Mitsi are just taking that on the chin, or maybe the engine is just more efficient natively... I dont know the stats on it.

More torque, more power, less lag, better powerband, improved fuel economy and lower emissions.

It's actually a brilliant idea: the 2.5 is lovely to drive and will produce great numbers. Unfortunately it was just very poorly executed by subaru, hence all the reliability issues.
