Default advice on sti intercooler

hi chaps, jus after a bit of advice, jus got a bargin on a sti intercooler to put on my wrx, i was jus wondering if fitting it without a map will do the car any harm? i know im not going to get any gains or anything, in time when i have more funds i will be geting pinkys and a vf35 then remap, but jus wanted to get intercooler fitted and out the way,

Hope you got the brackets and underside pipework in the deal.

you will need to get a set of sti intercooler brackets then its a straight fit

Your WRX brackets should be the same, the one by the turbo has 2 mounting points on it as standard.

If you look at your current intercooler and at the mount on the left it should extend a bit over the silver turbo heatshield and have a threaded hole in it - this is where your STI intercooler locates - the right hand bracket mounts in the same place as your WRX one does. 20 minute job if that to swap them over

ideal thanks for your help, will this cause my engine any harm fitting it without getin it remaped?

Straight swap.....

You will get no real gain in BHP as the ECU is going on it's merry way. However the STi intercooler is more efficient (even with the WRX scoop) and the pressure drop is less so the engine will be slightly more efficient at doing it's job.
