Question

Hi, thinking of buying a Jap import WRX

Where can I get the car checked? I understand from a mate that some cars were stolen from Japan and sold in the UK....

I dont want to get stung by buying a dodgy car!

I think that all cars imported now are Interpol checked before they come into the UK/EU, also if the car has just been imported then the importer should be able to show you a copy at least, of the deregistration Document from Japan which would mean that it is highly unlikely that the car is stolen.
Also the British Institute of Motor Traders Association are now offering a warranty for protection from the car having been stolen in Japan, for people selling cars this would cost the seller if a private individual £30 or £15 if a member/dealer.
