Default LHD quick rack?

Hi there.

I drive v6 GC8 Euro GT LHD and my rack will have to be replaced soon.

Is there any option for me to get quick rack in replace for stock one? Can RHD one can be some how modified or would i be better of just to rebuild it?

Thanks for input

Try www.japanparts.com they do a LHD quick rack for the newage, most likely they do one for the GC8 as well.

I had a 15:1 rack in my previous STI and now have a spec C with the 13:1. I can confirm that it has made a tremendous difference to the feel and accuracy of the steering. I beleive the LHD GC8 is an even slower rack, (17:1 or something) so moving to a 13:1 would make an even greater difference.

Did you experience any difficulties at 100mph+ on the highway etc.? So 13:1 is the one to go for?

Ill contact them.

Absolutely no issues at high speed (I live in Switzerland and regularly see very high speeds on the autobahn). Many cars have a fast rack like that. The Evo have a 13.1 rack as standard. The current M3 and 1M use a 12.5:1 rack. None of those cars are overly twitchy.

Not sure how it will be on a GC8 though. Then again, don't the JDM Type R GC8s use a 13:1?

Good luck finding a LHD 13:1 for a GC8. IIRC the Spec C 13:1 replacements from Prodrive in LHD were over £1000 and that was for an N12.

Its not an easy solution i think,

Finding one to start with is the problem, they have been out of production for over 12 years, if (and its a BIG if) you do find one, it will be rhd as all the cars are rhd that they were fitted to, if you find a rally one converted then id say you are looking at mega cash there (well over 1k if not more).
You will be best sticking with what you have now or finding a fast rack thats lhd.

I have heard about Q rack. There was a group buy on the Germany / Swiss Scooby forum (Subaru Community.net)

1k is a lot of money but the quick rack will transform the way your car feels to drive.

Visteon made the quick racks that were supplied to prodrive for the GpN cars.

They were part of the LHD conversion kit used to convert Spec C donor cars to GpN. The last rack i bought was a few years ago and as i said, it was the best part of £1000 and that was with decent discount....
