i have been looking into getting another impreza but when checking insurance for a classic imported STI it said it was a 2.0 sport NA

i cant change it to sti as there is no other options

i dont want to buy the insurance and drive the sti with invalid insurance

i dont want to insure the car as a sport then phone to get it changed and they want £3000 more than my current quote

will my insurance be invalid if i just leave it as a sport ? as surly it wont be my fault that the dvla has it logged as something else....

It's a common mistake that DVLA make, the owner should call DVLA and have the log book changed however very few people do. They leave it and just insure it on the cheap, this is illegal however.
Try phoning your insurance company and get a quote that way.

Some websites will allow you to add the details without the reg. but best to check on the phone

Yes it would. By accepting the policy you are taking responsibility for ensuring that the details of the policy are correct. It's the same as your address being wrong.
